"Everyday I think about how life would be with my little one. Everyday I regret that weak minded person I was that let people force me into that decision. I’ve never felt so empty never felt so incomplete since then. I can’t say I’m the same since losing/ giving up/ killing my baby. I feel like a monster. I roam life everyday with anxiety, depression, and a lack of trust of the people around me."

-Anonymous Mother of an aborted fetus

Abortion: Intentional methods used to terminate a pregnancy. This term has become a common household term worldwide. It has been and continues to be the subject of many debates and political platforms; often highlighting the schism between pro-choice and pro-life groups. Pro-choicers advocate that women should have the right to choose whether they wish to keep or terminate a pregnancy while pro-lifers advocate against the termination of pregnancy suggesting that life begins at conception.

The socio-political debate has consumed a lot of time, energy and attention but let’s look at the statistics surrounding these terminated pregnancies and the reasons presented for the same. By far, the most common situations where a woman contemplates and executes an abortion is due to either inconvenient, mistimed or unwanted pregnancies. Nearly half of all reported pregnancies in the US were unintended in 2011 according to the Guttmacher Institute. The Guttmacher Institute is a primary source for research and policy analysis on abortion in the United States. About 40 percent of these unintended pregnancies, excluding miscarriages, ended in abortion. Of those abortions, less than 10% are sought due to rape/incest or fetal or maternal health.

The US Supreme Court came down with a decision on Roe v. Wade in 1973, the landmark decision on the matter of abortion. Since then there have been over 60 million abortions. 60 million lives have been lost and the vast majority due to a disconnect between intention, action and result. People engage in the act of intercourse, end up with a pregnancy, recognize the pregnancy is untimely and undesirable and abort the fetus as a result. Nowadays in modern society abortion is the norm, acceptable and tolerated in the eyes of many, and a procedure done and perhaps never looked back on.

Those that advocate for the rights of abortion as well as most scientists, argue that it is physically and psychologically safe. This is statistically incorrect. There are a variety of health issues, both physical and psychological, that can stem from a woman having undergone an abortion procedure. Some of the undisputed consequences among those in the medical field include blood clots, hemorrhaging, incomplete abortions, infection and injury to the cervix and other internal organs, perforation of the uterus and scarring of the uterine lining. Additionally abortions can cause cardiac and respiratory arrest, kidney failure, shock, missed ectopic pregnancy and death. According to medical statistics, such complications noted above affect roughly 10 percent of women who have abortions, and approximately one-fifth of these complications are life threatening.

Cancer is another illness correlated to abortion in modern medicine. The risk of breast cancer increases by 30 percent post-abortion, particularly for those women who have their first abortion in their younger years or who have a history of breast cancer in their family. There is also research linking reproductive and rectal cancers to abortion as well.

Research and statistics also show that the long-term physical and psychological consequences of abortion include possible preterm birth in subsequent pregnancies, depression, anxiety and suicidal tendencies, and miscarriage. Post-abortion, women are at risk of emotional difficulties often stemming from relationship issues, uncertainty about engaging in the procedure due to values or lack of knowledge as well as coercion to abort, being young, and previous psychological issues. In one study, about 30% of women and 50% of adolescents who aborted reported having experienced suicide or ideas of suicide. Around 40% of women experienced major depression or anxiety disorders by the age of 25.

Men also experience negative psychological effects particularly when not consulted about an abortion their partner decided to undertake. In North America, fathers have no legal rights in the decision making process regarding abortions which can result in a frustration where there is a lack of consent.

Roughly 75% of women who have an induced abortion will experience a subsequent pregnancy. The subsequent pregnancies and births can be unstable and result in challenges due to the abortion history of the mother. For example, pre-term birth is a common issue for future pregnancies. Pre-term birth is defined as a baby being born three or more weeks prior to a complete term pregnancy. Research shows that a third of those pre-term births are likely due to abortions earlier in life. Cerebral palsy is one sickness found in pre-term babies and scientific research attributes abortion to the cause of thousands of cases of cerebral palsy. Many women who lose babies in pregnancy have had multiple abortions in their lifetime.

Consider this scenario:

If you observed pregnant female mammals in nature and noticed they were trying to terminate their pregnancies by the millions by consuming poison or hurting themselves, what would you think? Would you think this is normal and cohesive with the functions of nature or would you think something has gone terribly wrong in this environment resulting in species destroying their own offspring rather than bringing them into the world?

Do you ask yourself why our species is terminating fetal lives by the millions? And what really are the consequences of this behavior? Was this something our Ancestors did? If they didn’t do this then is it something we should be doing for the purposes of comfortability, convenience and other similar reasons?

According to Kemetic spirituality and tradition, every birth is the reincarnation of an Ancestor. Ancestors are waiting on average seven generations to reincarnate and gain the opportunity to return from the World of the Dead to fulfill the responsibilities that lie before them and their destiny in order to have yet another opportunity to write a history that brings them closer to our goal as humans- becoming Divine and renouncing the need to return to material/ earthly/mortal existence.

With this understanding, life itself is a privilege and very precious to the transformation and cycle of a human being. Once we are granted the way to birth on earth, in the process of abortion, it is the very mother/father that brought the life forth who has now decided to terminate that life and the opportunity to return to earth. Our Ancestors gave us a chance at life and in reciprocating that opportunity, we too owe our Ancestors the opportunity to come to life again too. Closing that door or terminating that opportunity, according to Kemetic Spirituality, is a spiritual crime. The act of terminating life in the womb IS A SPIRITUAL CRIME.

The death of the fetus results in that spirit holding a grudge; a grudge against the mother and/or the father, despite the fact that she may have been encouraged to have the abortion. That grudge can then manifest itself in a variety of ways including: incidents or accidents targeting the mother/father or the parent’s living children, financial difficulties, blockages in conceiving other children in the future, illnesses targeting the mother/father or her children and in some cases even death.

It is important to note that an accidental and intentional abortion can share the same consequences because the end result is the same- a life is terminated and a spirit loses the opportunity to come to life. For example, an accidental or spontaneous abortion can be the result of taking medications or herbs that unknowingly cause abortion or conceiving and then due to the circumstances the parents live in or the negative energies they carry, the spirit decides not to stay.

In addition, modern medicine’s morning after pill and herbal medicines that work in a similar fashion are also acts of abortion. If conception in fact takes place, then the morning after pill terminates the pregnancy, resulting in an impossibility for the return of that spirit/ ancestor, interfering with his/her ability to reincarnate.

Every action has a consequence; this is the way nature functions. To think that a human being can bring another life into existence and then terminate that life and never have to look back or face any consequences, is purely an illusion or a denial of reality. All of our actions are recorded as part of our history, for better or worse, and the history we write for ourselves calls energies upon us that we have to deal with whether sooner or later.

It’s clear that once abortion became an acceptable and encouraged option by society, it became attractive not only to the pregnant woman wishing to avoid the responsibilities and obligations of producing life but it became attractive to those surrounding her in her life and environment too. An abortion serves her and her surroundings in the ability to function as if the pregnancy never existed. It deletes any inconveniences for the father, the mother’s co-workers, and it can save her family embarrassment depending on the circumstances. Abortion somehow elusively solves everyone’s problems all at once.

But this can only be true if the only aspect of existence a human has to wrestle with is the material existence. What about the immaterial realms? It’s only science that has convinced us that what we can’t see doesn’t actually exist. But the way our Ancestors lived for tens of thousands of years was with reverence, acknowledgement and allegiance to the immaterial realms first and foremost and it is only when we have harmony there that we then have harmony with the earth and our physical or material life.

If you or someone you know aborted a fetus and you have interest in remedying the action on a spiritual level, please contact The Earth Center and Ankhkasta Natural Healing to get a spiritual reading and begin to cleanse the energies associated with the abortion and how it may be targeting aspects of your present life. We don’t judge, we just work to preserve life. www.anhlife.org
